friend as well as my support-system. We plan to marry next year. We have no kids.
TBA: Lata, congrats on your engagement. Please tell us about you, the woman behind the business.
Lata: I was born and brought up in the beautiful city of Nagpur in India. I was
born on the 11th of April, 1980 which makes me an Arian. I am a
Post-Graduate in Commerce and gave up a career in Finance to take a plunge
first into Graphic Designing, then Website Development and finally
Webmastership.
I love reading, swimming and travelling. Fitness, Yoga, Meditation,
Naturopathy and Vegetarianism are a part of my life. I also love crafts,
cooking and home-decoration.
TBA: Lata, lets switch gears here and talk about your business, tell us whats the name of your business, the site URL and when did you start it?
Lata: Dot Com Women, the url is Dot Com Women. Though my business as a Web Designer started long back, DotComWomen was launched on March 8, 2003 which incidentally is 'International Women's Day'.
TBA: Dot Com Women is a good name how did you pick that name?
Lata: The website is dedicated to women who are using the world wide web for their
personal as well as professional growth. When I thought of a woman like me, who finalizes her party menu with the help of cooking websites, turns to the web whenever she wants to learn something new, shares her joys and sorrows with online friends, and even utilizes the web for earning an income - 'Dot Com Woman' was the first name to come to my mind.
TBA: Why did you choose to start Dot Com Women?
Lata: The web has given me much in my life including lifelong friends and a lucrative career. Throughout, I received the support of Women from all over
the world. With this website, I wanted to give something back and help women to use their talents to achieve the best in life - personal or professional. DotComWomen gives me the satisfaction of giving something back to the loving and supportive women community on the web
TBA: What do you love the most about Dot Com Women?
Lata: The ability to Work from home, having time for my family and all my other interests and passions and also the satisfaction of helping other women.
TBA: Where would you like to see Dot Com Women go?
Lata: I would love to develop DCW into a large online community and a full-fledged portal for women and to continue emphasizing on the PERSONAL as well as
PROFESSIONAL growth of women.
TBA: What advice would you give women?
Lata: The road to success always has the most difficult paths. Don't ever give up
on your faith. Remember this favorite quote of mine, by Mary Anne Radmacher
"Courage doesn't always roar.
Sometimes courage is the little voice at
the end of the day that says
I'll try again tomorrow."
TBA: Is there anything else you would like to tell us Lata?
Lata: Not restricted to Business only, DCW realizes the importance of spending quality time with your family as well as your own self! It is geared towards bringing out the truly professional business woman in you along with keeping you aware of the gentle, feminine feelings that spell the essence of being a woman.
